Roof top training
university of Auckland
The University of Auckland rooftop was designed to be more than just an outdoor area. The space needed to function as a true student environment — somewhere people could study, socialise, reset, and train within the same footprint.
Metal Fit was engaged to design and manufacture a series of stainless steel fitness stations that integrate cleanly into the new rooftop deck structure. The goal was to create a calisthenics-style training zone that supports strength and movement without overwhelming the space or compromising its everyday usability.
Every station was fabricated from 316 grade marine Stainless steel — a premium material chosen for its durability, corrosion resistance, and refined architectural finish in an exposed rooftop environment. While often avoided due to its cost and fabrication demands, the material ensures the installation will perform and present at a high level for many years to come.
The equipment was engineered to connect to the newly constructed galvanised deck structure (later clad in composite decking), with all base plate connections carefully isolated using rubber gaskets and nylon washers. This prevents direct contact between galvanised and stainless components, eliminating the risk of dissimilar metal corrosion and protecting the integrity of both materials.
The finished rooftop has quickly become a popular hub for students, members, and athletes, and is a project Metal Fit is extremely proud to have delivered.
stainless soap trays
Les Mills Auckland City
Metal Fit was engaged to design and manufacture a series of stainless steel soap trays as part of the changing room upgrade currently underway at Les Mills Victoria Street, Auckland city.
Each tray was fabricated from bright finished 316 grade stainless steel, selected for its durability, corrosion resistance, and refined appearance in a high-moisture environment. The trays are supported by precision-machined spigotted wall-mounted fittings, allowing for a clean, minimal installation while ensuring long-term structural reliability.
All components were electropolished, enhancing the surface finish while improving corrosion resistance and cleanability — an ideal solution for shared commercial facilities where hygiene and longevity are essential.
The result is a simple but highly refined stainless installation that complements the upgraded changing spaces while delivering the durability and material quality expected in a premium fitness environment.
